These organizations are representative of the best of the environmental and business communities in Austin, each recognizing the importance of conserving land to preserve our quality of life, natural resources, rural heritage and economy.

Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA)

(RECA) renewed its commitment to preserving open space in February 2006 by pledging $400,000 to Hill Country Conservancy - a fourfold increase from the initial $100,000 the 1,600-member group previously made to HCC. As one of the founding members of HCC, RECA is a member-oriented organization with a diverse membership reflective of Austin. The group includes architects, attorneys, developers, engineers, financial institutions, landscaping companies and real estate brokers. RECA's leadership serves on the HCC Board, and RECA’s members are active participants in the Conservancy’s ongoing fundraising activities. RECA’s Board voted to increase its funding commitment to be used for the acquisition of open space.

Stratus Properties

Stratus provided 'seed' money and other gifts when Hill Country Conservancy was created in 2000. In April of 2006, Stratus Properties exceeded their long history of generosity with an unprecedented gift of $2,000,000 - the largest ever given by any corporation for land preservation in Central Texas. Hill Country Conservancy is indeed indebted to Stratus Properties for their counsel and steadfast financial support.
