"Hike the Half" Marathon!

HCC extends a huge thank-you to those who are running on behalf of the HCC Marathon Team this February! We are opening up the marathon team for those interested in hiking the half marathon.

You don’t have to be a long distance runner to support Hill Country Conservancy, get in shape, and get great HCC gear. If you are interested in joining the team, we advise you sign up soon, because the Austin Marathon registration is filling up fast!

Volunteer of the Month
Bill Mottice - Volunteer of the Month

We are highlighting one of our hard-working volunteers, Bill Mottice, for his diligence and worthy effort in keeping trees watered at Nalle Bunny Run during this terrible drought. No hose is needed for Bill, because he fills buckets full of water and carries them by hand to each tree. Thank you, Bill, and we want you to know that your work has not gone unnoticed.

Land Conservation Bill Backed
States that have signed-on to HR 1831

Exciting news! The Land Trust Alliance announced this month that a majority of the House of Representatives – including majorities of both Democratic and Republican members – has co-sponsored legislation that will help protect millions of acres of our nation’s forests, agricultural lands and open spaces.

The bill known as H.R. 1831 makes permanent the incentive that allows modest-income landowners to receive meaningful tax deductions for donating conservation easements that permanently protect important natural or historic resources on their lands. This is exactly what HCC is working so hard for! Read the rest of the article here.
