| Walk For A Day Public Meeting |
|
Discussions among key stakeholders of the Walk For A Day Trail have evolved during the past few months from "big picture planning" to consideration of several alternative designs and routes through which the trail might traverse.
So here’s your chance to help us plan and design the trail! In preparation for more specific planning – and creation of a Trail Master Plan this fall, the trail planners want to hear from you at a Public “Open House” Meeting Wednesday, July 15th (6:30 – 8:30 pm) at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Please plan to attend this “Open House” to learn more about the proposed trail and provide input that will be used to guide the trail planners as they prepare to bring this trail vision to reality.
When: Wednesday, July 15th (6:30 - 8:30pm)
Where: Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (map)

| National Trails Day Wrap-Up |
|
National Trails Day, held June 6th, was a great success thanks to support of over 300 volunteers who removed graffiti, chipped steps at the chain wall, built a stone retaining wall, worked on a section of climbing walls, updated ADA accessible portions of the trail, and worked on many erosion control projects. After the event, we all headed to Zilker park for music by the Grass Onions and a great Salt Lick lunch. See pics and more here.
Thank you again to the partners and sponsors who made this day possible:

| Thank you REI |
|
Hill Country Conservancy was just informed that we were awarded a $5,000 grant from REI to assist with Walk For A Day trail workshops this fall! The fall workdays will focus on proper instruction of trail building skills, erosion control, and drainage repair. The trail workday will provide an opportunity for volunteers to learn about designing sustainable trails that reduce maintenance needs while providing a good experience for visitors.
