Global Conservation Impacts on Local Habitat Conservation Efforts

Please join HCC in a discussion about the global impacts of wildlife habitat conservation efforts beyond the protection of endangered species. The discussion will highlight the similarities between these global efforts, specifically in Guatemala and elsewhere in the neotropics, and those currently underway in our local environment and the connection to conserving migratory birds here in the Hill Country of Texas. Engage with Don Church, Director of Wildlands Conservation for Global Wildlife Conservation, a scientific based organization working globally to protect the world’s species and their habitats.
Registration/Lunch begins at 11:30am
Presentation 12:00pm -1:00pm

The Livestrong Austin Marathon and Half Marathon is hosting 26 Miles for 26 Charities on Sunday, February 19, 2012. HCC needs over 100 volunteers to host a water stop at our designated mile, providing water, snacks, coffee, sunscreen and other comfort items, and ensuring emergency protocols for 20,000 marathon participants. The Marathon would not be the same without its enthusiastic and supportive volunteers encouraging participants.
Volunteer efforts help raise awareness for Hill Country Conservancy’s mission to conserve working ranches, scenic views and water resources in the Texas Hill Country. In addition, efforts will provide funding for planning and constructing a 30-mile “Violet Crown Trail” from downtown Austin to the Onion Creek Natural Area in Buda.
